RE ENGINE Empowers Students in Capcom's Game Design Challenge
Capcom Launches First-Ever Game Development Competition for Students
Capcom is fostering industry growth through education with its inaugural Capcom Games Competition, a student-focused game development tournament. This initiative aims to strengthen the video game industry by bridging the gap between academia and industry.
Boosting the Game Industry's Future
This groundbreaking competition, open to Japanese university, graduate, and vocational school students, utilizes Capcom's proprietary RE ENGINE. Teams of up to 20 students, each assigned roles mirroring professional game development, will collaborate to create a game within six months. Capcom developers will provide mentorship, guiding students through state-of-the-art development processes. Winning teams will receive invaluable game production support, potentially leading to commercialization.
The competition opens for applications on December 9, 2024, and closes on January 17, 2025 (unless otherwise stated). Applicants must be at least 18 years old and enrolled in a Japanese educational institution.
RE ENGINE: Powering Innovation
Developed in 2014, Capcom's RE ENGINE (Reach for the Moon Engine) debuted with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in 2017. This powerful engine has since powered numerous Capcom titles, including recent Resident Evil installments, Dragon's Dogma 2, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. Continuously refined and updated, the RE ENGINE ensures the creation of high-quality gaming experiences.
