CDPR acknowledged weak gameplay in The Witcher 3
The Witcher 3, while critically acclaimed, wasn't without its flaws. Many fans felt the combat system fell short.
In a recent interview, Witcher 4's game director, Sebastian Kalemba, acknowledged weaknesses in the previous game's gameplay, specifically highlighting the need for significant improvements to the core gameplay loop and monster hunting mechanics. He stated plainly: "We want to improve the gameplay and the monster hunting experience."
Kalemba emphasized that the Witcher 4 trailer should showcase the power and intensity of monster battles, focusing on improved choreography and emotional impact.
Expect a substantial combat overhaul in The Witcher 4. CD Projekt Red recognizes the shortcomings of past Witcher games' combat and is addressing them directly. These improvements will likely carry over to future installments, especially considering Ciri's role as the protagonist in the new trilogy.
Interestingly, the developers also plan to include Triss's wedding. In Witcher 3, the "Ashen Marriage" quest was originally intended for Novigrad. The storyline involved Triss's burgeoning feelings for Castello and her wish for a swift wedding. Geralt's role involved assisting with preparations, including monster extermination, acquiring alcohol, and choosing a wedding gift.
