Bully Anniversary Update Released by Rockstar

Rockstar Games, the studio behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise, has released an Anniversary Edition update for its mobile version of Bully. Yes, after a six-year wait, a new update is finally here! This release is exclusive to mobile devices and is not currently available for consoles or PC.

Rockstar Remembers Bullworth Academy!

The Bully: Anniversary Edition introduces new language support, with the patch primarily focusing on enhanced stability and resolving various bugs. Notably, Rockstar has temporarily deactivated the Friends Challenges feature.

The update also enables Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) for compatible Android devices, refreshes the application icon, and incorporates haptic feedback support for both iOS and Android.

Several mission-blocking issues have been resolved. These include the impossible locker pick in 'That Bitch' involving Mandy, and the progression halt in 'Weed Killer' if a window was broken prematurely. The problem with police cars falling through the ground in 'The Rumble' has also been fixed.

Additionally, the update addresses cases where enemies would not attack the protagonist, Jimmy, creating an oddly unbalanced combat experience. It also fixes crashes that could occur when starting a new game or loading a saved game from the pause menu.

Player Reactions to Bully: Anniversary Edition

While fans have clamored for a Bully sequel for years, Rockstar's focus appears to be elsewhere. Reports suggest a sequel was in development during the 2010s but was ultimately sidelined to prioritize Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online.

With Grand Theft Auto VI now in production, the prospect of Bully 2 seems increasingly remote, especially considering the departure of many original developers. This new update is not a full remaster or sequel, but for mobile gamers, it represents a solid quality-of-life improvement.

For the uninitiated, Bully is Rockstar's signature open-world formula applied to a school setting. You step into the shoes of Jimmy Hopkins, a 15-year-old troublemaker navigating the social hierarchies and chaos of Bullworth Academy, all delivered with the studio's trademark humor.

Bully: Anniversary Edition is available on the Google Play Store, priced at €7.99, and includes full controller support.
