The game begins with the deck evenly split between two players. Each player draws the top card from their deck, and the player with the higher card value wins the "battle," claiming both cards. If the cards are of equal value, a "war" ensues. According to the chosen settings, 1 to 15 cards are placed face-down on the table, followed by another face-up card from each player. The player with the higher face-up card wins the war, collecting all cards involved.
