2025 Alienware Aurora 16, 16X Gaming Laptops Now Available
Alienware has just unveiled its latest lineup of 2025 gaming laptops, the Alienware Aurora series, now available for purchase at Dell. The new 16-inch models—Aurora 16 and Aurora 16X—are designed to bring high-end performance to a more mainstream audience, without the extravagant design typically associated with Alienware laptops.
The Alienware Aurora 16 starts at $1,949.99 and features an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 i9-270H CPU paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 GPU at 85W TGP. Meanwhile, the more powerful Alienware Aurora 16X is priced at $2,299.99, offering an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU and an RTX 5070 GPU with a higher 115W TGP. Both models are expected to begin shipping in mid-June.
It's worth noting that both models can be upgraded to include an RTX 5060 GPU, though this option is currently available only via preorder and without a confirmed release date, as the RTX 5060 has yet to officially launch.

Unlike the flashy, RGB-heavy designs of previous Alienware models like the Area-51, the Aurora series adopts a more minimalist and professional aesthetic. These laptops feature a slim, clean profile with a subdued look and minimal branding. The Aurora 16 even opts for a simple white keyboard backlight—similar to Apple's MacBook—instead of customizable RGB lighting.
Despite the sleek design, Alienware hasn’t compromised on performance. Both models come equipped with a Cryo Chamber dual-fan cooling system using copper heatpipes, ensuring optimal thermal performance. The Aurora 16 is slightly thinner and lighter thanks to its lower TGP GPU and lower power CPU, while the Aurora 16X is slightly bulkier to accommodate the more robust cooling needed for its higher-performance components.
These laptops are also significantly more portable than the larger, more expensive Alienware Area-51 series—up to 1.6 pounds lighter and 30% thinner—making them ideal for gamers who value mobility without sacrificing power.
Why Gamers Should Consider the Aurora 16X
For serious gamers, the Alienware Aurora 16X offers a compelling upgrade over the base model for a modest price increase of $350. Here's what you get for the extra:
- Higher performance display: 2560x1600 resolution at 240Hz with G-Sync, compared to the Aurora 16’s 120Hz panel
- More powerful CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX vs the Aurora 16’s Core Ultra 9 270H
- Increased GPU TGP: 115W vs 85W, resulting in better GPU performance
- Double the RAM: 64GB vs 32GB
- Double the storage: 2TB vs 1TB
- Premium build: Metal top and bottom chassis vs metal top only
- RGB keyboard lighting and Thunderbolt 4.0 connectivity
These enhancements make the Aurora 16X a more future-proof and versatile option, especially for those who demand high frame rates and multitasking capabilities.
