Warner Bros. Games is undergoing a major transformation to concentrate resources on four flagship properties: Mortal Kombat, Harry Potter, DC Comics, and Game of Thrones.

The strategic shift was first reported by Variety, revealing significant leadership changes without any workforce reductions. Three veteran executives have been elevated to senior roles to spearhead development across these core franchises.

Yves Lachance, formerly head of Warner Bros. Games Montreal, now oversees Harry Potter and Game of Thrones projects as Senior VP of Development. NetherRealm's Shaun Himmerick assumes responsibility for Mortal Kombat and DC properties in his new Senior VP role. Steven Flenory from Warner Bros. Games New York will manage technical operations as Senior VP of Central Tech & Services.

"We're fortunate to work with some of entertainment's most beloved universes," said Global Streaming & Games CEO J.B. Perrette. "By aligning our best creative minds with these powerhouse franchises, we're building for long-term success across our gaming portfolio."

This reorganization follows a turbulent beginning to 2025 for Warner Bros. Interactive, marked by the departure of executive David Haddad and several high-profile setbacks including Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's disappointing reception and MultiVersus' sudden shutdown.

The company's contraction accelerated in February with studio closures affecting Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and Warner Bros. San Diego, coupled with the cancellation of its anticipated Wonder Woman title.

Current moves reflect strategic priorities outlined late last year when executives acknowledged underperformance in their gaming division. The renewed emphasis on tentpole franchises like Hogwarts Legacy and the Batman universe signals a back-to-basics approach for the publisher.

These gaming adjustments mirror broader corporate changes at Warner Bros. Discovery, including its planned division into two separate media entities and the rebranding of Max back to HBO Max expected later this year.
