Lost Soul Aside Locked For 130+ Countries At Launch
Players Frustrated With Lost Soul Aside Being Region-Locked

Lost Soul Aside, developed by UltiZero Games, will be unavailable in over 130 countries at launch, a move dictated by Sony's restrictions on PlayStation Network (PSN) availability. Despite the fact that the game does not require a PSN account, its region-locking means it won't be visible on Steam in unsupported countries. This has left gamers bewildered, especially since PlayStation recently lifted PSN requirements for their PC titles. The backlash on social media is palpable, with many gamers vowing not to purchase the game due to these restrictions.
To circumvent this, players would need to create a new Steam account in a country where PSN is supported, a workaround that has only added to the frustration.
Lost Soul Aside Will Blend Fantasy Elements With Realistic Visuals

Since its announcement in 2016, Lost Soul Aside has maintained its distinctive style, blending fantasy elements with realistic visuals. In an IGN interview dated February 20, 2025, UltiZero Games CEO Yang Bing elaborated on the game's consistent visual and combat style. Bing noted, "So this is something that we have been sticking to for all these years. During this development process, we, of course, continued to see some new and excellent works, which maybe we got some influence through, [on] our thought along the way. So from the beginning, this personal trailer gradually evolved into a more mature and well-run version, I should say."
The game's protagonist, Kaser, exemplifies this blend, with his cartoonish features juxtaposed against the realistic rendering of his skin, hair, and clothing textures. Bing has previously cited Final Fantasy 15 as a key influence on this aesthetic approach.
Influences From Final Fantasy, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry

Lost Soul Aside draws heavily from a roster of iconic Japanese games, including Final Fantasy, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry. In a February 20, 2025 interview with Famitsu, Bing detailed how these influences shape the game. The character design of Kaser, for instance, reflects the Final Fantasy series' approach to blending realism with fantasy. Bing explained, "I had a designer design the clothes for the main character, and I wanted to combine realistic and fantasy elements, just like in FF. After the clothes are designed, they are actually made and reproduced in the game. By doing so, we thought that the players would feel as if it actually existed, and that the main character, Kazel, would also feel as a bloody, realistic character."
The game's combat system, characterized by its speed and flashiness, is inspired by Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry. Bing emphasized the ongoing refinement of the combat system, aiming to balance speed with depth, allowing players to develop their own styles and achieve high performance.
Lost Soul Aside is scheduled for release on May 30, 2025, on PlayStation 5 and PC. Stay updated with the latest developments by checking our article below!
