"Black Ops 6 Zombies Mode Boosts Popularity with Directed Play"
Activision has revealed that the Directed mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has significantly boosted the number of players engaging with the main quest, doubling the participation rate. While many players of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies prioritize survival, the introduction of Directed mode has shifted the focus towards the narrative for a substantial portion of the player base.
Since its inception with World at War, the Zombies mode in Call of Duty has always included a compelling story. This narrative has grown increasingly complex over the years with each new Zombies experience, including the latest in Black Ops 6. Despite a decline in the overall player base since its launch, the Zombies mode retains a dedicated community. The mode challenges players to fend off waves of increasingly difficult enemies, often leading them to prioritize enhancing their weapons and defenses over completing the story. However, the introduction of Zombies Directed mode with the Season 1 update has been a game-changer, resonating well with the community.
According to a recent Call of Duty blog post, Directed mode has increased the main quest completion rate from 4% to 8.23%. This statistic is derived from 480 million hours of gameplay, with a minor portion of this data coming from since the November 14 release of Directed mode. Treyarch's goal with this mode was to encourage more players to engage with the Zombies main quest, and the doubling of completion rates marks it as a success. Yet, with over 90% of players still not completing the main quest, Treyarch is committed to finding further ways to increase this figure.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Directed Mode Made Major Improvements in One Key Area
The Zombies' Directed mode was introduced as part of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Season 1 update, which also brought three new maps, two new game modes, and more. Directed mode provides a structured path for players, making it easier to progress through the Zombies storyline. Over the years, the Zombies narrative has delved into complex themes like interdimensional portals, zero-point energy, time travel, and teleportation, which can be daunting for newcomers. While previous Zombies modes left players to navigate the story independently, Directed mode in Black Ops 6 offers a guided experience, enhancing player engagement with the narrative.
With Directed mode, more Zombies enthusiasts than ever before have the opportunity to complete the main quest. As Treyarch continues to refine Black Ops 6, future updates to Zombies and Directed mode are expected to further boost main quest completion rates, ensuring a richer and more immersive experience for all players.
