This means even after upgrading your PC multiple times over the next few years, you won't need to buy a new gaming monitor for a long time. It even supports DisplayPort 2.1 technology, which isn't yet common in current-generation gaming PCs.

Even today, the gorgeous OLED panel is highly color accurate. Supporting up to 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, it's hard to find a screen with better color representation without spending a fortune on a display meant for creative professionals. Most gaming monitors have 1800R or 1500R curves, which are relatively mild. The lower the number, the deeper the curve, and this panel is designed to wrap around your peripheral vision for a deeply immersive experience. Be aware that such a deep curve can lead to slight text distortion that takes time to get used to and may not be ideal for productivity.

Like other OLED monitors, it's incredibly responsive with a 0.03ms response time. IPS, VA, and TN panels can't match this level of speed. At its full 240Hz refresh rate, input latency is virtually non-existent, allowing your muscle memory to shine in clutch moments.

There are numerous preset modes to choose from, both in SDR and HDR, and it includes three-axis RGB controls and six-axis saturation controls for calibration to your taste. If you're a content creator, you'll appreciate its excellent factory calibration out of the box.

Since it's an OLED, its SDR brightness isn't great. If used indoors away from direct sunlight, it's perfectly fine, and in HDR, the brightness can reach 1,000 nits for highlights. While SDR might be a drawback, it shares the incredible 0.03ms response time with other OLED gaming monitors. Paired with its 240Hz refresh rate, it's the perfect choice when motion clarity is crucial, such as in esports and competitive shooters.

Another consideration is that this monitor only supports DisplayPort 1.4, not the newer DP 2.1 standard. This means you can't run it at full resolution and refresh rate without Display Stream Compression, which is visually lossless but matters if you use multiple displays or want to avoid a brief black screen when alt-tabbing from a full-screen game.

At $899 at launch, it's a solid value for what it offers and should become more affordable over time.

What really sets it apart is its incredibly fast refresh rate. The monitor can hit a top speed of 480Hz, just shy of the fastest gaming monitors available (which peak at 500Hz). It's so close that even pros would struggle to notice the difference. For the slight 20Hz deficit, it offers a significantly better picture. Unlike the 4K variant with its 480Hz "mode," you don't sacrifice image quality to achieve that high frame rate.

The screen is truly gorgeous. You don't need to be a display expert to appreciate its rich colors and impeccable contrast. Playing games on it is a joy, as is watching movies and viewing any content with photos or videos. During my review, I couldn't get enough, and returning it was a sad moment.

Its fast refresh rate and incredible 0.03ms responsiveness virtually eliminate motion blur. You can perform quick movements without the usual smearing. It's a noticeable improvement even over 240Hz monitors, which are already better than the widely available 120Hz to 180Hz monitors.

The PG27AQDP also features the widest array of OLED protections I've encountered. It includes pixel shifting and pixel refresh cycles, but can also detect and dim static elements like your taskbar. There's even a mode to dynamically dim different parts of your screen in real time to prevent image retention. Internally, a high-performance cooling system helps reduce the risk of burn-in. If you do face issues, Asus offers a three-year warranty with burn-in coverage.

There's no KVM or USB video input, which is a bit disappointing, but considering everything you're getting, this monitor is tough to beat.
