A young woman journeys through time to revisit pivotal moments in her family’s past.
DOT’S HOME is a single-player, 2D narrative game following a young Black woman in Detroit as she inhabits her grandmother's cherished home. Through time travel, she experiences critical junctures where race, place, and belonging intersect with life-altering decisions.
This interactive experience reveals systemic barriers shaping racial and spatial relationships through the lens of those most affected. By confronting players with housing dilemmas amid redlining, urban renewal, and gentrification, it poses a vital question: "How did your family arrive where they are today—and what agency did they truly possess in that journey?"
DOT’S HOME emerges from the Rise-Home Stories initiative: a three-year collaboration between multimedia creators and housing justice advocates reimagining community narratives across time.
