Unfrozen Studio, the developers behind Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, have unveiled further details about the intriguing Swarm faction, following an initial teaser. They've detailed the faction's origins, the evolution from the initially conceived "Inferno" to the final "Swarm" concept, and its role within the Jadame continent's unfolding narrative.

The Swarm's defining characteristic is its remarkable adaptability. Certain creatures possess abilities directly influenced by the opposing unit's level; the greater the disparity, the more devastating the damage inflicted. Others, like mantises, strategically select one of three unique abilities each round. A notable feature is the ability of creatures such as worms and locusts to consume corpses, restoring health and enhancing their power – a skill also learnable by player heroes.

In Olden Era, the insectoid race, previously only briefly mentioned in Might & Magic 8, assumes the mantle of the demonic threat. While respecting established lore, the developers have incorporated elements of body horror and occultism, transforming the faction into something far more than a simple insect colony. It's depicted as a cult, utterly devoted to a singular overlord, its members bound within a vast collective consciousness, their existence solely dedicated to fulfilling their master's commands.

The Swarm's gameplay revolves around a "mono-faction" mechanic, rewarding players for utilizing exclusively Swarm units, as these units synergistically enhance one another. Furthermore, Swarm troops can summon cocoons, their health directly correlated to the army's overall size. Upon hatching, these larvae temporarily bolster the battlefield forces, granting players dynamic adaptability to shifting combat scenarios.

The developers emphasize the Swarm's aggressive playstyle, characterized by corpse consumption for healing and empowerment, and unique abilities that dynamically adjust based on enemy strength. This design fosters a confrontational approach, providing players with a novel and engaging combat strategy.
