Pikmin Bloom Celebrates 3.5 Years with Classic Console Theme

Pikmin Bloom is set to celebrate its 3.5th anniversary next month, and Niantic is pulling out all the stops by bringing back some nostalgic gadgets in the game. The festivities are set to begin with a new event starting on May 1st, 2025.

The Update Is a Cool Throwback to the Good Old Nintendo Days!

Over the years, Pikmin Bloom has delighted players with a variety of fun decor, including Pikmin adorned with Mahjong Tiles and Playing Cards. For its 3.5th anniversary, the game is taking a trip down memory lane by introducing classic Nintendo game consoles from the 80s and 90s into the mix.

In addition, a new Playing Card (Clubs Suit) Decor Pikmin is being introduced as a homage to Nintendo’s early days when they were renowned for crafting playing cards before venturing into video games. The designs for these cards draw inspiration from Nintendo’s vintage playing card decks.

The event will run from May 1st to May 31st, 2025, offering players an entire month to engage in the event's missions and collect unique new Pikmin. Completing Event Challenge missions will reward you with random goodies like Game Button Cells, seedlings that can sprout into Nintendo Consoles '80-'95 Decor Pikmin, and flower petals.

During the event, Brilliant Mushrooms will also appear. By smashing these, players can unlock Mystery Boxes containing items such as Game Button Cells, flower petals, and other surprises. The Nintendo Consoles '80-'95 and Playing Card Decor Pikmin are particularly effective at tackling these mushrooms.

Pikmin Bloom 3.5th Anniversary Also Brings Big Flowers in May

May will also see the blooming of large flowers in Pikmin Bloom. Depending on the petals planted around them—red, yellow, white, or blue—these flowers can turn into carnations, sweet peas, lilies of the valley, freesias, canola flowers, or special anniversary roses.

A nectar update accompanies the event, ensuring that fruit harvested from mushrooms during May will yield nectar for both regular and special flowers, including carnations, sweet peas, lilies of the valley, freesias, canola flowers, and anniversary roses.
