The inZOI development team has confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from the game. Recent reports indicated that the Creative Studio mode demo contained this anti-tamper software, which has long been a contentious issue among gamers due to its impact on game performance.

Denuvo DRM is a technology used to prevent unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, making it harder for individuals to pirate and distribute cracked versions.

In a Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim addressed the community's concerns, stating that the upcoming Early Access build, set for release on Friday, will be free of DRM. "We initially chose to implement Denuvo to protect the game from illegal distribution, believing it would ensure fairness for those who purchased the game legitimately. However, upon reviewing community feedback, we realized this approach was not in line with our players' expectations," Kjun explained.

Kjun also apologized for not informing players about Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode. He noted that while removing DRM could lead to increased piracy, it would allow for a more customizable and moddable experience for players. "We believe that enabling this freedom from the start will foster innovative and sustained enjoyment within our community," he added.

inZOI Being A Highly Moddable Game

The importance of modding is central to inZOI's design, which made the inclusion of Denuvo puzzling to players, as it hinders the addition of mods and customizations.

Kjun reiterated the team's commitment to making inZOI a highly moddable game. "As mentioned during our Online Showcase, we are dedicated to enabling extensive modding. Our initial mod support, launching in May, will allow players to create custom content using tools like Maya and Blender. This is just the beginning; we plan to expand mod support across various aspects of the game, enabling you to tailor and enrich your experience in diverse ways," he stated.

Further details on modding will be shared in a separate post. Krafton continues to prioritize player feedback, making adjustments to enhance the gaming experience.

inZOI is scheduled for Early Access release on March 28, 2025, on PC, with a full launch planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The exact date for the full release remains undisclosed.
