During the open beta weekend, players had the opportunity to dive into the first 20-25 hours of Dune: Awakening and explore its other features. It was during the Global LAN Party livestream on May 10 that the community stumbled upon a critical exploit in the PvP mode. The "stunlock exploit" occurs when a player uses quick knife attacks repeatedly on an opponent with zero stamina, trapping the target in a perpetual state of stagger, unable to defend, use abilities, or escape.

This issue gained widespread visibility when popular streamers like Tyler1 and Shroud showcased it during their livestreams, bringing the exploit to the forefront of the community's attention.

Funcom Promises Fix Before Launch

During the same Global LAN Party livestream, developers from Funcom observed the stunlock exploit firsthand. In response, Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley assured fans that this issue would be resolved before the game's official release. Gagné confidently stated, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away."
