Boss fights in *The First Berserker: Khazan* can be a thrilling yet daunting experience, especially when you're not fully prepared. The Blade Phantom, encountered in the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass, is no exception. This formidable foe challenges your stamina management and aggressive tactics with its relentless attacks, making it crucial to understand its patterns and phases to emerge victorious.

Phase 1

The battle begins in a castle with floors flooded with a crimson liquid, setting a grim stage for your encounter with the Blade Phantom. This ghostly entity unleashes a variety of attacks to keep you on your toes:

  • A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick being delayed.
  • A three-hit combo with two punches followed by a downward kick.
  • A four-hit combo starting with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ending with a leaping kick smash.
  • A three-hit combo with flashing punches, concluded by a grab that you must dodge.

Beyond these melee assaults, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer that causes damage and spawns red spikes, a spear for a quick throw and a teleporting smash, and a blade for a swift six-hit combo. It also has the ability to disappear and dash around the battlefield before attacking.

Mastering the timing of these attacks to parry or dodge effectively allows you to counterattack and deplete the Blade Phantom's stamina, setting up opportunities for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you reduce its health by about half, triggering the transition to the second phase.

Phase 2

In the second phase, the Blade Phantom intensifies its assault, initiating with four claw attacks followed by a high spear throw. After the spear lands, you must move away from the affected area to avoid damage from a leaping swipe. This is followed by three greatsword slashes and a hammer smash.

While the boss retains many of its earlier attacks, it now includes new claw attacks, a spear thrust with a follow-up, and swift dual-wielding attacks ranging from four to six sets. Teleportation becomes more frequent, and when wielding the greatsword, be prepared for multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, indicated by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Successfully parrying this with a Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) will restore your stamina and open the boss up for more damage.

To maximize your damage, strike the Blade Phantom when its stamina is depleted, and only initiate the Brutal Attack when the window is nearly closed. This strategy will help you secure victory and earn your rewards, including 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
