Japan Expansion for Ticket to Ride: Build the Bullet Train Network!

Ticket to Ride now lets you embark on a virtual train journey across Japan with its latest expansion. Marmalade Game Studio and Asmodee Entertainment have launched the Japan Expansion for their digital adaptation of the classic board game.
Help Build the Train Network
For the first time, the Japan map from the physical game is available on digital platforms—but with a twist. You’re no longer building just your own railway empire. Instead, you’re working together to develop a nationwide Bullet Train network that benefits everyone.
It’s cooperative, sort of. You might try to sneakily let others do the heavy lifting while you rack up points. But the game comes with a built-in karma system.
Avoid your Bullet Train responsibilities, and you’ll lose 20 points when final scores are tallied. So even if you’re plotting to sabotage your friends later, you’ll need to pitch in just a little.
Ticket to Ride has also introduced two new characters with the Japan Expansion. One is Nakanishi Kimiko, a travel blogger who’s fully immersed in the festival scene—with her dog in tow.
The other is Moriyama Isamu, a gyōji—or sumo referee—who adds rich historical depth and authentic local character beyond just maps and trains.
Ticket to Ride Has Upgraded Trains with the Japan Expansion
Your collection gets a small boost. The expansion adds two new trains and two carriages. First up: the Ichi Eki Saki train and the Tsuki Sleeper carriage, perfect for leisurely trips. Then there’s the Isogaba Maware train paired with the Hayai carriage—blazing fast and highly efficient.
As spring arrives, the Japan map will shine with its seasonal charm. The Japan Expansion is live now and ready to download if you’re ready to refresh your Ticket to Ride gameplay. Find the game on the Google Play Store.
