A Fish Eater is an animal that regularly preys on humans as part of its natural hunting behavior.

In the game, the player takes control of a female bull shark who must grow stronger, evolve, and survive in a vast open world in order to seek vengeance against the fisherman who disfigured her as a pup and murdered her mother.

Players can uncover hidden landmarks and tackle side missions. Each region features dangerous predators that will attack the player, including muskellunge, barracuda, alligators, sperm whales, orcas, and even other sharks. Each area also contains its own unique apex predator — larger and more powerful than normal species. These include the great barracuda, shortfin mako, American alligator, great hammerhead, great white, orca, and albino sperm whale. Defeating these beasts grants players special abilities and bonuses.

The game world reacts dynamically to the player's actions. As the shark causes more destruction, human bounty hunters are deployed to eliminate it. If the shark defeats the lead hunters, new, more dangerous ones will eventually take their place.

To grow stronger, the shark must hunt and consume aquatic wildlife such as fish and turtles to obtain essential nutrients — proteins, fats, minerals, and rare mutagenics. Players can also target humans by creating chaos along the coastline, destroying yachts and ships, and knocking people off jet skis.
