P4 Voice Actor Rules Out Remake Return

The long-rumored Persona 4 remake appears increasingly credible, following comments from an original voice actor who confirms they were not asked to reprise their role.

Yuri Lowenthal, the voice behind Yosuke Hanamura in Persona 4 and numerous spin-offs, stated on BlueSky that he will not return for the unannounced remake.

"To everyone asking, no, I will not be voicing Yosuke in the Persona 4 remake," Lowenthal said. "I inquired, and even pleaded, but they decided not to bring me back."

"They" likely refers to Atlus, though the company has not officially announced a remake. We have contacted Sega and Atlus for a statement.

SAG-AFTRA video game performers remain on strike, partly over AI protections. While Lowenthal is a member, it is unclear if this influenced casting. The union stated in March that negotiations with industry representatives remain "frustratingly far apart."

Despite the lack of official word, rumors of a Persona 4 remake have persisted. Earlier domain name discoveries fueled speculation, and leakers have previously hinted at its development.

This unofficial confirmation from a former cast member is certainly an unexpected way for news to surface. Following the success of Persona 3 Reload, a remake of Persona 4 seems a logical next step.

As for a potential reveal, Persona 3 Reload was announced during the summer 2023 Xbox Games Showcase. It's another title to watch for during this summer's expected flurry of announcements and trailers.

In related Persona updates, the mobile and PC spin-off Persona 5: The Phantom X is scheduled for release on June 26, 2025, for fans seeking more Persona 5 content.
