Tencent Games Announces the EOS of MMORPG Tarisland

Another one bites the dust! Tencent Games has announced the end of service for its action MMORPG Tarisland. It’s only been a year since the game’s official global launch. The game first appeared in April 2023 and entered closed beta testing in China shortly after its announcement.
It rolled out early access in select regions in June 2023, and finally launched worldwide in June 2024. The game features a Western fantasy setting with group-based content, including 5-player dungeons, 10-player raids, and large-scale boss encounters.
When is the Tarisland EOS?
The game will shut down on November 4th, 2025, on both Android and iOS. New registrations and in-app purchases have been disabled since September 4th.
You can still log in and use your owned items until the servers officially close on November 4th. After that, downloads will be removed from app stores, and all services will be permanently terminated.
The shutdown will occur at different times depending on your region: November 3rd at 19:00 GMT-5, November 4th at 00:00 GMT+0, and November 4th at 08:00 GMT+8. There will be no offline version or refunds after this date. Check out the full details here.
What’s your thought on this?
It’s not surprising to hear about games with such short lifespans these days. Nearly every week, we see another official end-of-service announcement, and Tarisland’s was no exception—just another short-lived MMO that faded quickly.
While the game offers solid dungeon and raid design, the seasonal model didn’t resonate with most players. Tencent removed launch content after a while, which further hurt player retention. The premium currency economy also turned away many users.
These factors likely contributed to the game’s termination. What do you think? Comment and let us know. Meanwhile, read our next update on Monster Hunter Now Season 7 with the Advent of the Exploration Base.
