Star Wars Outlaws has launched its first story expansion today with A Pirate's Fortune DLC now available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC - all thanks to the mischievous pirate Hondo Ohnaka.

Drew Rechner, Creative Director at Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment, revealed the DLC was inspired by the team's love for Hondo Ohnaka, the Weequay pirate who previously appeared in Darth Maul comics and Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.

"We always knew we had to include Hondo because so many team members were passionate about the character. The combination of Kay's scoundrel persona with Hondo's pirate charm just felt like a perfect match," Rechner explained to IGN.

"We envisioned Kay developing her leadership skills, and having someone like Hondo as a potential mentor - though who knows if he can be trusted? - which created an intriguing dynamic."

The expansion introduces a new adventure featuring the Rokana Raiders crime syndicate and the Miyuki Trade League, who can provide Kay with upgrades for her Trailblazer ship. Players also gain access to a new Shock blaster capability.

Star Wars Outlaws will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4. While Rechner remained tight-lipped about potential new features for the Switch 2 version, he hinted at upcoming announcements.

"Regarding specific features, we'll share more details later. There's definitely more information coming soon."

The Switch 2 version could potentially utilize the console's rumored features like controller-as-mouse functionality and new GameChat capabilities.
