Publisher EA highlighted this achievement in their recent financial report, describing the game's launch as "hugely successful" and crediting it as a key factor in their strong performance at the close of the 2025 fiscal year.
In a jubilant post on social media, Hazelight celebrated the news with an enthusiastic, "4 MILLION SOLD!!!!" They expressed their gratitude to the community, saying, "So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it’s amazing... Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe, and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And so many hot dogs made..."
**Split Fiction** immerses players in the diverse worlds crafted by two fiction writers, offering a groundbreaking co-op experience where two players can enjoy the game even if only one owns it. Launched in March, the game quickly became another blockbuster for Hazelight and its designer, Josef Fares, selling over two million copies within its first week. It's also slated to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, as Hazelight continues to develop its next project.Furthermore, a film adaptation of Split Fiction is in development. Story Kitchen, known for their work on the Sonic films, is spearheading the project, gathering a team of writers, a director, and a cast that includes Sydney Sweeney.
In our IGN Split Fiction review, we praised the game as "an expertly crafted and absorbing co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another." We noted that it offers "a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles that are usually discarded as quickly as they’re introduced," ensuring a consistently fresh experience throughout its 14-hour duration.
