Sony PlayStation State of Play Scheduled for Next Week

Sony is set to host its customary February PlayStation State of Play event next week, according to reliable leaker NateTheHate. The event is teased to occur during Valentine’s Day week, from February 10 to 14.

Speculation abounds about what Sony might unveil at this year's State of Play. With a lineup of first-party titles slated for 2025, fans are eager for updates. Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei, with its 2025 release window, could offer new gameplay footage and a specific release date. Bungie's PvP extraction shooter, Marathon, might make an appearance, especially if open playtesting is on the horizon for this year. Haven Studios' debut game, Fairgames, Naughty Dog's new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Insomniac's Marvel’s Wolverine are also on the radar. A new trailer for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, also set for 2025, seems highly probable.

However, don't expect to see the live service games Sony recently canceled. Last month, Sony axed two unannounced projects from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games, with the latter being a live-service God of War game. While Bend Studio’s project remains undisclosed, Guerrilla Games' Horizon multiplayer game reportedly dodged the cut. Could this be the moment for its official reveal?

Which PlayStation Game Are You Most Looking Forward to Seeing at Sony's Next State of Play?

  • Ghost of Yotei
  • Marathon
  • Death Stranding 2
  • Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
  • Marvel's Wolverine
  • Fairgames
  • Horizon multiplayer live service project
  • Physint
  • Phantom Blade Zero

Moving to third-party announcements, Kojima's upcoming stealth-action PlayStation exclusive, Physint, might be a bit premature for a showcase. However, Phantom Blade Zero, the action RPG from S-Game, could be a more likely candidate.

Additionally, Microsoft, now a notable publisher on PlayStation, might use the State of Play to announce a release date for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5 or even the arrival of Halo on the platform.

Looking back at last year’s State of Play can offer clues about what to expect. Highlights included Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Ken Levine’s Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2.
