Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the most eagerly awaited games of recent years, with fans worldwide eager to experience it firsthand. The wait may soon be over, as Silksong will have a playable version at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This version is anticipated to be a significant evolution from the "proof of concept" demo showcased at E3 in 2019.

ACMI's Game Worlds exhibition, running from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026, will feature several notable titles including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and the Australian-developed Hollow Knight: Silksong. The exhibit will showcase exclusive custom builds along with original design materials, concept art, and iconic objects from these games.

In a conversation with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about including Silksong in the exhibit. They stated, "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September."

Since its announcement in 2019, details about Silksong have been scarce, leaving fans to rely on rumors and speculation about its release date and other aspects. The Game Worlds exhibit at ACMI aims to break this silence by providing more in-depth information about Silksong.

The co-curators elaborated on the exhibit's focus on Silksong, saying, "From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design."

While the event at ACMI hints at a possible launch window for Silksong, no official announcements have confirmed the game’s release date. Silksong recently appeared during the Switch 2 Direct, confirming a release window of 2025. Given the exhibit's end date in 2026, fans are hopeful that Silksong might launch as early as September 2025, or within the exhibit’s duration.
