Shrek 5's New Look Sparks Debate, Even Sonic Weighs In
Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast with a brand-new teaser trailer, sparking a wave of reactions, including from an unexpected source: Movie Sonic. Even the blue hedgehog seems unsure about Shrek's fresh appearance.
In a playful video shared on TikTok, the Sonic Movie account offered "advice for green ogres," humorously reflecting on Movie Sonic's own journey from his controversial initial live-action design to a much more favorably received version introduced months later.

In response to widespread criticism, director Jeff Fowler committed to redesigning the iconic character, promising a more authentic representation. The updated design was much better received by fans and critics alike.
While the feedback on Shrek's new look hasn't been as divisive as Sonic's initial live-action debut, Sonic's light-hearted response has certainly entertained his followers.
"You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," one fan commented, while another exclaimed, "No way they actually posted this," accompanied by a crying emoji.
The fifth installment of the Shrek franchise was first announced in 2016, but progress remained quiet until Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, confirmed its active development in 2023, along with plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures has since shifted Shrek 5's release date to December 23, 2026, moving the Despicable 3 spin-off, Minions 3, into its previously scheduled slot.
