Rebel Wolves Aim for Witcher 3 Quality in Dawnwalker
The team at Rebel Wolves, composed of former developers from The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, has announced their new project, The Blood of Dawnwalker. While the game won't reach the full scale of a AAA title, the studio's ambitions remain sky-high. Rebel Wolves’ founder, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, emphasized their goal to achieve the same quality level as The Witcher 3, but within a more manageable scope:
“We want AAA quality, like The Witcher 3—that’s our heritage. But as a small studio on our first project, we’re creating something more compact yet just as polished.”
Tomaszkiewicz shared that The Blood of Dawnwalker is expected to take around 30-40 hours to complete, contrasting it with The Witcher 3's marathon length:
“Comparing anything to The Witcher 3, which was meant to last 100+ hours but often exceeded 200-300 hours, is crazy. But is size what makes a game AAA? Call of Duty is AAA without a massive campaign. So, does scale really matter?”
He further dismissed industry labels like "AAA" and "AAAA" as meaningless, focusing instead on the quality of the gaming experience.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an action RPG that follows the journey of a half-vampire who has 30 days and 30 nights to save his loved ones. Despite the time limit, the game promises a seamless and engaging experience. Built on Unreal Engine 5, it is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, though an official release date has yet to be announced.
