PS5 Price Rises Again in Europe, Australia, NZ

Sony has announced an increase in the recommended retail prices (RRPs) for PlayStation 5 consoles across Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, effective from April 14. The decision comes in response to "a challenging economic environment, including high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates." The new prices were officially confirmed through a post on the PlayStation Blog.

In Europe, the PS5 Digital Edition will now cost €500, with no change to the price of the standard PS5 with a disc drive. In the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition's price has risen to £430, while the standard PS5 with a disc drive remains unchanged. For customers in Australia, the standard PS5 with a disc drive is now priced at AUD $830, and the PS5 Digital Edition at AUD $750. In New Zealand, the standard PS5 with a disc drive will be NZD $950, and the PS5 Digital Edition will be NZD $860. Notably, the price of the PS5 Pro remains unchanged.

This follows similar RRP increases implemented in 2022, resulting in the PS5 being significantly more expensive in many regions compared to its launch prices. In Europe and the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition is now €100 and £70 more expensive than its initial price of €400 and £360, respectively. In Australia, the standard PS5 has increased by AUD $80 from its launch price of AUD $750, and the digital edition has gone up by AUD $150 from AUD $600. In New Zealand, the standard PS5 is NZD $130 more than its launch price of NZD $820, while the digital version has increased by NZD $210 from NZD $650.

Interestingly, the RRP of the PS5 disc drive is set to decrease to €80 in Europe, £70 in the UK, AUD $125 in Australia, and NZD $140 in New Zealand.
