Oblivion Remastered Mods Released Online
Bethesda has officially stated that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered does not include support for official mods. However, this hasn't deterred the passionate community of fans, who have quickly released a selection of unofficial mods.
Just hours after the surprise release of Bethesda and Virtuos' reimagined version of Oblivion for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, a few community-created mods surfaced on the popular modding site, Nexus Mods. These initial mods primarily focus on small customization tweaks, yet they demonstrate the unwavering dedication of The Elder Scrolls modding community.
At the time of this article's publication, an impressive total of 22 mods were already available on the site. The first mod to be released offered PC players the ability to customize their desktop by replacing the default *Oblivion Remastered* shortcut icon with one of two images featuring the game's notorious Adoring Fan. Other mods quickly followed, including options to bypass the introductory Bethesda and Virtuos logo screens. Additionally, mods that alter gameplay elements, such as one that modifies the Wizard's Fury spell and another that removes the in-game compass, have already emerged.Despite Bethesda's usual encouragement of mod support in their titles, the company explicitly stated that Oblivion Remastered would not feature official mod support. This information was detailed in an FAQ section on their website.
One Nexus Mods user, GodschildGaming, uploaded an Iron Longsword damage mod to demonstrate that modding Oblivion Remastered is still feasible. In the mod's description, they stated, "This is just to prove modding is possible. Bethesda says no mod support, I say false. It really is Unreal slapped on top of Oblivion, the data folder is nested in a lot more folders but same concept."
