Netflix Cancels 'Stories', Yet Game Remains Playable

Netflix has announced the closure of its interactive fiction games under the Netflix Stories banner, marking the end of a brief yet intriguing experiment in narrative gaming. Despite the games enjoying a solid player base, Netflix has decided to pull the plug on this venture. Curious about why Netflix Stories got the axe? Let's dive into the details!
The decision, initially reported by Variety, is part of a larger strategic pivot at Netflix Games. The company is now shifting its focus to mobile titles that include party games, games for kids, mainstream releases, and other interactive experiences designed for TV play.
Despite the cancellation, Boss Fight Entertainment, the creative force behind the Netflix Stories series, will continue to collaborate with Netflix on other projects, including the much-anticipated Squid Game: Unleashed.
Is Netflix Stories Shutting Down?
Despite some criticism, Netflix Stories consistently held a strong position among the most-played games on the Netflix platform. Recent reports placed it fourth in the Netflix Games top 10 carousel, which ranks games based on playtime rather than downloads.
Looking ahead, the final interactive title in the Netflix Stories lineup will be Love Is Blind: NYC. Once its rollout is complete, no new games will be developed under the Netflix Stories banner. This announcement follows closely on the heels of teasers for the next game in the series, The Love Contract, which was slated for release on April 8th.
Unlike its predecessors, The Love Contract was not based on any existing Netflix IP but was an original romance story centered around an actress navigating a complex love triangle with a Hollywood star and a billionaire, enveloped in fame, scandal, and the world of fake dating. Unfortunately, this game has been cancelled.
While no new titles will be added, existing Netflix Stories games will remain accessible. Fans can continue to enjoy titles such as Love Is Blind, Emily in Paris, Money Heist, Love Is Blind: Winter’s Kiss, Perfect Match, Sex Education, Selling Sunset, Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, and The Perfect Couple. However, planned sequels like Outer Banks and Ginny & Georgia have been cancelled.
That's the full story on Netflix Stories! If you're a fan of Netflix shows, you can still check out the existing games on the Google Play Store.
