MGS4 PS5 & Xbox Port Teased by Konami, Potentially Marking First Time It's Playable Outside of PS3
Konami Hints at Metal Gear Solid 4 Remake and Next-Gen Ports in Master Collection Vol. 2
Speculation is rife about the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, particularly regarding the possibility of a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots remake. Konami has fueled this speculation, offering subtle hints about the game's future.
Konami's producer, Noriaki Okamura, recently spoke with IGN, acknowledging the fervent fan desire to see MGS4 on modern consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC). While remaining tight-lipped about specifics, Okamura's comments strongly suggest MGS4’s inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2.
"We definitely are aware of the situation with MGS4," Okamura stated. He cleverly alluded to the first volume's inclusion of MGS 1-3, leaving fans to draw their own conclusions. Okamura cited ongoing internal discussions about the series' future as the reason for withholding concrete details.
The possibility of an MGS4 remake has been fueled by several factors. Last year, placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appeared on Konami's official timeline, hinting at their potential inclusion in Vol. 2. Further adding to the excitement, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project on social media.
Despite the mounting evidence, Konami has yet to officially confirm the contents of Master Collection Vol. 2. The anticipation for an MGS4 remake and its release on platforms beyond the PS3 remains high.
