"Mario Kart World's Cow Now Eats Burgers, Steak"
In a delightful break from the usual news about tariffs and Nintendo Switch 2 pricing, IGN recently shared some fun insights from a Nintendo event in New York where they got to experience the newly announced Mario Kart World. The highlight? The Moo Moo Meadows Cow, now a playable character, can indeed indulge in a variety of foods, including burgers and steak.
For those new to the buzz, Mario Kart World introduced the Moo Moo Meadows Cow as a racer, sparking a wave of excitement and creativity across the internet with memes and fanart celebrating this once-background character's promotion to a starring role. However, a curious detail emerged from the Nintendo Direct 2 trailer: Mario was seen eating a burger, raising the question among fans whether Cow, whose kind might be considered a source of beef, would partake in beef consumption.
At the event, IGN confirmed that Cow can indeed eat a range of foods available at Yoshi's diner locations within the game. These diners serve as drive-thru spots where racers can grab food items, similar to picking up items from item boxes. The menu includes burgers, steak kebabs, pizza, and donuts, and yes, Cow can enjoy them all.
Interestingly, while other characters may change costumes upon consuming these items, Cow does not appear to undergo any transformation. This has led to speculation about whether Cow is simply enjoying these foods for taste, or if there's a hidden power-up linked to her consumption that Nintendo has yet to reveal. Are these perhaps veggie burgers or plant-based meat alternatives?
IGN reached out to Nintendo for clarification but has not received a response, likely due to the ongoing New York event rather than the peculiar nature of the inquiry.
