Lies of P Overture DLC Updates
Open To Any Sort of Considerations

Choi Ji-Won, the director of Lies of P, found a refreshing new perspective after participating in Elden Ring: Nightreign's network test. Speaking at the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi shared with Eurogamer his thoughts on the evolution of the Souls genre. His admiration for FromSoftware's work is evident in the design of Lies of P.
Reflecting on Elden Ring: Nightreign, Choi remarked, "I've tried [Nightreign] and it was very refreshing and new. So that obviously gave me the impression that they're good developers, they always push their boundaries, their imagination and vision, and it shows. In turn, that for some reason motivated me to deliver the Overture experience as good as it could be."
This experience has led Choi to consider new directions for future projects. He stated, "In terms of our future endeavors, we are definitely open to any sort of consideration in the future."

Despite his appreciation for FromSoftware games, Choi emphasized that his inspiration doesn't stem from a single source. In an interview with Games Radar+ at the 2025 GDC, he clarified, "I'm a fan of many, many types of games, and that variety of different experiences and inspirations that I pick up with many different games I love, I sort of mold it into my own Lies of P experience. In the end, it's a combination of diverse inspirations that I get from many games that I love, and then I'm trying to transform that into a Lies of P experience that I'm developing for the fans of Lies of P now."
Overture Takes 15-20 Hours for Experienced Players

Choi disclosed that the Overture DLC is estimated to take 15-20 hours for experienced players to complete. This expansion is packed with numerous bosses and additional content that the developers originally intended for the game’s launch. Choi explained, "Overture is not a complete separate piece from the base game, and there's a lot of interconnectivity between the two, so developing the expansion was almost like an effort to complete the Lies of P experience, and that was challenging."
Overture serves as a prequel, taking players back to the final days of Krat's haunting, where they will follow a legendary Stalker. It incorporates new ideas, player feedback, and unused concepts that couldn't be included in the initial launch due to production constraints. Choi likened this release to a Director’s Cut, suggesting it completes the game's narrative.
He noted, "When we released the base game, we had to prioritize, as we mentioned, to do the best quality, so we couldn't deliver everything at once because we wanted to make sure what we can deliver has the best quality." Choi highlighted the community support they received post-launch, which inspired them to fulfill their vision with this expansion.
Overture is Not Connected to the Final Cutscene of the Base Game

During an interview with IGN at the 2025 GDC, Choi clarified that the Overture DLC does not connect directly to the final cutscene of the base game. For those avoiding spoilers, the ending of the base game hinted at potential future directions for the Lies of P universe.
Choi previously announced in a Director’s Letter video in November 2023 that a sequel to Lies of P is in the works, which might be related to the final cutscene. However, details about Lies of P 2 remain under wraps.
He assured fans, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

Choi encouraged fans to revisit the base game, suggesting it contains clues about what the DLC might entail. He also mentioned being intrigued by fan theories, some of which were quite accurate.
Lies of P: Overture is slated for release in Summer 2025, without a specific date yet announced. It will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned to our updates for the latest news on the game!
