Infinity Nikki Players Protest Update 1.5, Threaten Uninstall Over Controversial Changes

Author : Zoe May 18,2025

Infinity Nikki and its multiplayer-focused 1.5 update have finally arrived on Steam, but the launch has been overshadowed by a series of issues that have sparked significant drama within the community. Infold Games' stylish dress-up adventure, which was previously exclusive to the Epic Game Store, hit Valve's digital platform yesterday. However, instead of celebrating, fans have been confronted with a host of technical problems, unexpected design changes, and demanding outfit requirements. In response, the developers have issued an apology and promised compensation, yet the battle for Infinity Nikki is far from over.

PC players eagerly anticipated the Steam release of Infinity Nikki, but their excitement quickly turned to frustration as they encountered numerous technical issues, including crashes and general instability that prevented the game from launching properly. While technical hiccups at launch are not uncommon, the community's discontent extended beyond performance issues.

The introduction of two new five-star outfits, Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember, each comprising 11 pieces, has raised concerns among players. Collecting these full sets could require up to 220 pulls, a significant increase from what players are accustomed to, and it was implemented without prior notice. There's a growing fear that future outfit requirements might escalate even further.

Adding to the confusion, Infold extended the Crown of Miraland: Peak Arena event from two to three weeks, a decision that left the community bewildered. Amidst these technical issues and the introduction of more demanding monetization practices, the Chinese player base of Infinity Nikki took to the social media platform RedNote to voice their concerns, sparking a movement that has now spread globally. Players worldwide are calling for a boycott of Infinity Nikki on Steam, urging others to leave negative reviews and uninstall the game across all platforms.

"Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players," Reddit user kiaxxl stated in a call-to-action post. "For gacha games, tracking how successful a new batch of content is usually measured on the first few days. Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players."

The community's response has been notable, with Infinity Nikki currently holding a "Mixed" rating on Steam as players leave negative reviews, warning potential newcomers to steer clear until their demands are met and issues resolved.

The boycott gained enough momentum that Infold issued an apology letter across its official channels, acknowledging the technical issues and promising improvements in communication regarding future adjustments. The letter also included reassurances that many of the major technical problems have been addressed.

Apology Letter Regarding Version 1.5 Gaming Experience

Dear Stylists,
Hope this message finds you well.
First and foremost, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies. We are truly sorry that we were unable to provide you with a stable experience upon the release of the new… pic.twitter.com/YEjpGQpKho

Infold's message promised to revert Mira Crown to end on May 16 and start the next season on the same day, along with compensation for players in the form of 10 Revelation Crystals, 10 Resonance Crystals, and 1200 Diamonds. While this is a step in the right direction, it falls short of the comprehensive changes many players were hoping for.

While some see Infold's concessions as a victory, others remain skeptical, particularly about the decision to maintain the 11-piece requirement for new outfits. Despite promises of better communication, it appears that some five-star outfits will continue to have this high piece count.

I wish you would finally chance the drop rate.. it cant be that i need 200 pulls to get a 5star and then you drop like 5 banners within weeks?! Make the rate lower or give us more diamonds to be able to get crystals.. this is not fun!

The community has begun celebrating the swift response to their boycott, though it's not the complete victory they sought. Boycotters are now urging the community to maintain pressure on Infold.

"Think about it: CN players are pointing out that if we accept the 11-piece outfits and pity as it is, most new 5 stars will **be** 11 pieces," Reddit user EdensAsmr said. "Imagine if every new major update has two 11-piece 5-star banners? That means you have to save even more to be able to handle it, and 70-80 pulls per patch will **not** cut it."
