"Fallout 76 Ghoul Update: Key Details Revealed"
Fallout 76 Season 20 introduces a thrilling new feature for players: the ability to transform into a Ghoul in the radiation-soaked wasteland of Appalachia. This update brings a host of ghoul-related enhancements, new mechanics, and fresh cosmetic options to revamp your C.A.M.P. Let's dive into the details of what this exciting update has to offer.
Fallout 76 Season 20 Out Now
Unleash the Ghoul Within
Bethesda announced on March 18 that Fallout 76 Season 20, "The Ghoul Within," is now live. This update allows players to embrace Ghoulification through the "Leap of Faith" questline. This journey leads to a new area in the Savage Divide where players can meet unique characters who assist in their transformation into a Ghoul.
As a Ghoul, players gain access to exclusive abilities such as Glow and Feral, along with 30 new Ghoul-specific Perks, or "Gherks." The Feral ability replaces the traditional hunger and thirst stats, offering various boosts depending on the Feral meter's level. However, if the meter drops to 0%, players experience drastic gameplay changes: "+150% Melee Damage, -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy."
The Glow ability lets players consume radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, and even causing them to emit a glow. This ability increases maximum health, heals damage, and enhances Ghoul-exclusive Perks. Players have 28 Gherks to choose from, plus two new legendary perks for Ghouls, though perks related to Hunger, Thirst, and Chem Resistance are not available to Ghouls.
A Day In The Life of A Ghoul
Navigating the wasteland as a Ghoul offers unique advantages, thanks to Gherks and special abilities. However, this transformation can lead to tensions with factions like the Brotherhood of Steel, who may react aggressively towards Ghouls, potentially locking players out of certain questlines.
To overcome these limitations, players can use disguises provided by a new NPC named Jaye, allowing them to access content typically restricted to Ghouls. If the Ghoul life isn't for you, you can revert to being human via the Character Screen, though this is a one-way decision. To become a Ghoul again, you'll need to purchase the Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms.
Level 50 Character Boost and Season 20 Patch Notes
New and returning players can now accelerate their journey with the Level 50 Character Boost, available for 1500 Atoms in the Season 20 update. This boost helps players dive straight into multiplayer activities like Daily Ops, Public Events, and some story content.
The update also includes various bug fixes and balance adjustments, such as accessibility improvements, combat balancing, and weapon damage changes. Bethesda also teased the upcoming update, "The Big Bloom," scheduled for April 29, as part of their season calendar.
Since its launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has overcome initial challenges, earning a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam, with 76% of reviews being positive. The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
