Elden Ring: Nightreign Removes Iconic Messaging Feature: Why?

In a significant departure from tradition, FromSoftware has decided to remove the "leave a message" feature from their upcoming game, *Elden Ring: Nightreign*. In a recent interview, project director Junya Ishizaki provided insight into this unexpected choice. He explained that due to the game's session length of approximately forty minutes, players would not have sufficient time to engage with the messaging system effectively.
"With sessions lasting roughly forty minutes, there isn't enough time to send your own messages or read other people's messages, therefore we disabled the messaging feature," Ishizaki stated. This decision marks a notable shift, considering the integral role that message-based interaction has played in enhancing player enjoyment and engagement in previous FromSoftware titles.
Despite the removal of this feature, *Elden Ring: Nightreign* remains true to the essence of the Elden Ring universe. The game does not directly tie into the original Elden Ring narrative but instead offers a fresh adventure filled with unique challenges and encounters. While honoring the atmosphere and complexity of the Elden Ring world, *Nightreign* aims to provide players with a new and immersive experience.
