Dune: Awakening Set for Full Launch, Offers Optional DLCs
Dune: Awakening, the highly anticipated multiplayer survival game inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novel and its movie adaptations, has received an exciting update from its developer, Funcom. The game is set to have a "full launch" on May 20, rather than an Early Access release. This news will be welcomed by fans eager to dive into the expansive world of Arrakis without the wait of phased releases.
One of the key aspects of this update is the confirmation that Dune: Awakening will not follow a subscription-based model, despite being classified as an MMO. Instead, Funcom plans to support the game through free updates that will introduce new content, features, and enhancements over time. This approach aligns with the developer's history of maintaining and expanding their other MMOs like Anarchy Online and Conan Exiles with free updates, DLCs, and expansions long after their initial launch.
For those looking to purchase the game, Dune: Awakening offers three editions. The standard edition is priced at $49.99, while the Deluxe Edition at $69.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $89.99 provide additional benefits. Both the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions grant players a five-day head start and include several unique items. The Deluxe Edition includes the armor of the Sardaukar, the game's elite military force, while the Ultimate Edition offers everything in the Deluxe Edition plus Paul Atreides' iconic stillsuit from the 2021 film, a digital artbook, a digital soundtrack, unique color patterns, and the Caladan Palace Set with building pieces, placeables, and decorations.
Pre-ordering any edition of Dune: Awakening comes with additional perks, including a universal color pattern applicable to vehicles, weapons, and armor, as well as the Terrarium of Muad'Dib, an in-base decoration featuring the iconic desert mouse.

For PC players, Funcom has detailed the system requirements and confirmed that Dune: Awakening will support advanced graphics technologies such as Nvidia’s DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, AMD’s FSR, and Intel’s XeSS 2. The minimum system requirements include Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-7400 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 processor, 16 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB) or AMD Radeon 5600XT (6GB) graphics card, and 60 GB of available storage. For a more optimal experience, the recommended specifications are Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X processor, 16 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (8GB) or AMD Radeon 6700XT (12GB) graphics card, and 75 GB of available storage.
