David Harbour Considered for Long-Lost Kane & Lynch Movie
For years, fans of the original Kane & Lynch video game, developed by the Hitman studio IO Interactive and released in 2007, have been tantalized by the prospect of a big-screen adaptation. Over time, various Hollywood stars have been linked to the project, adding to the excitement and speculation.
Recently, Nobody 2 director Timo Tjahjanto shared on social media that he had crafted a treatment for the Kane & Lynch film, envisioning David Harbour, known for his roles as Jim Hopper in Stranger Things and Red Guardian in Thunderbolts/New Avengers, in a starring role. "Never seen a script, but a couple of years ago when that property was still kinda hot. I wrote a short treatment with James Badge Dale and David Harbour in mind," Tjahjanto disclosed. "Never gotten anywhere."
The Kane & Lynch movie project seems to have stalled completely. Tjahjanto's treatment was just one of many proposed ideas for the film that never made it to production.
Previously, Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx were attached to the project, but they eventually dropped out as the script underwent numerous revisions. Another iteration of the film was rumored to star Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel, yet this too fizzled out without coming to fruition.
Following the release of the less-than-stellar sequel, Kane & Lynch: Dog Days in 2010, IO Interactive shifted their focus away from the series and concentrated solely on their successful Hitman franchise.
