Crafting and Using Gems in Dynasty Warriors: Origins Guide

Quick Links

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, one of the key strategies to enhance your character's strength is through the use of Gems. These versatile items can be equipped at any time to provide passive boosts, significantly aiding your performance on higher difficulty levels.

You have the ability to craft new gems and upgrade those you've already unlocked, though the process involves a degree of randomness. Here's a detailed guide on how to craft and level up gems, as well as tips to increase your chances of crafting the gem you desire.

How To Craft & Level Up Gems In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Gem crafting in Dynasty Warriors: Origins utilizes Pyroxene, and can be conducted at any Inn or tent within the game. When you're in your room, select the second option from the top, "Create Gems". You can then use any amount of Pyroxene you have, with each piece offering a one-to-one chance to craft one of five possible gems.

Once you've crafted a base gem, it starts at level 1 and can be equipped during your Battle Preparations. Each subsequent gem of the same type you craft will contribute experience points (XP) to the base gem, leveling it up and enhancing its effectiveness with each level gained. If you're not particular about the type of gem, it's beneficial to use all your Pyroxene at once to craft multiple gems, thereby upgrading them randomly across the board.

For those with a preference for specific gems, there's a feature called "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" that occasionally activates when you craft a single gem. This feature temporarily limits the variety of gems that can be crafted with the Pyroxene you use, randomly selecting three types. You can deactivate this effect by exiting and re-entering the gem crafting menu. While crafting one gem at a time can be time-consuming, it's a strategy you might employ to increase your chances of activating "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" for the gem you're focusing on.

Although "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" helps to reduce the randomness in gem crafting, it doesn't eliminate it entirely.

The five gems you can craft are:

Gem NamePassive Boost
Oblivion GemExpands attack range.
Vortex GemBoosts damage to enemies launched into the air.
Scorch GemBoosts damage dealt to enemies with parries.
Wellspring GemRestores health for every 100 enemies defeated.
Ascendance GemActivates a chance to automatically block an attack from an enemy officer.

Where To Get Pyroxene In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Pyroxene can be found scattered throughout the overworld, appearing as distinctive orange crystals protruding from the ground. Interacting with these crystals will yield one Pyroxene, after which the crystal will vanish. After completing a Skirmish or Battle, some of the Pyroxene in the overworld will respawn, encouraging you to revisit and explore previously cleared areas to gather more. Additionally, you may occasionally receive Pyroxene from letters, which you can read in your room at an Inn or tent.
