Ciri to Lead The Witcher 4: A Natural Choice, Says CD Projekt Red

CD Projekt Red has revealed that Ciri will take center stage in the highly anticipated The Witcher 4, marking a pivotal shift in the series' narrative. Executive producer Malgorzata Mitrega explained that this transition from Geralt to Ciri aligns perfectly with both the evolution of the game series and the storyline of Andrzej Sapkowski's original books. Mitrega highlighted that Geralt's story reached its conclusion in The Witcher 3, setting the stage for Ciri to step into the spotlight with her vast potential and complexity.

Ciri, a character deeply explored in both the books and the games, offers a rich canvas for new creative avenues. Director Sebastian Kalemba pointed out that Ciri's youthful age provides players with more opportunities to influence her development, a flexibility not possible with the more established Geralt. Interestingly, the idea of shifting the protagonist to Ciri has been in discussion at CD Projekt Red for nearly a decade, underscoring their long-term vision for her as Geralt's successor.

Kalemba further noted that the fresh challenges and perspectives Ciri will face promise to craft a new, equally epic saga. Doug Cockle, the voice behind Geralt, has endorsed this shift, praising Ciri's potential as a lead character. While Geralt will still make an appearance in the new game, his role will be less central, emphasizing the new narrative focus on Ciri.
