"Carey Mulligan Joins Cast of Barbie Director's Narnia Reboot"
The highly anticipated Narnia reboot, penned and directed by Greta Gerwig, is shaping up with an impressive ensemble cast, including Carey Mulligan. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mulligan joins the project alongside former James Bond actor Daniel Craig, Sex Education star Emma Mackey, and legendary actress Meryl Streep.
Gerwig returns as both writer and director for her fresh interpretation of C.S. Lewis' beloved fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia. The film will adapt the series' prequel novel, The Magician's Nephew, set prior to the events of the iconic tale, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Mulligan, celebrated for her critically acclaimed performances, is cast as Mabel Kirke, the mother of the young protagonist, Digory. Meanwhile, Daniel Craig takes on the role of the enigmatic magician and Digory's uncle. Emma Mackey will portray a youthful version of the infamous White Witch, and Streep lends her voice to Aslan, the majestic and wise talking lion central to the series.
This marks the latest cinematic venture into the world of Narnia, following a trilogy released between 2005 and 2010. Those adaptations included Tilda Swinton as the White Witch and Liam Neeson voicing Aslan.
Gerwig’s new take on Narnia follows the success of her 2023 film, Barbie, which garnered significant attention and earned eight Academy Award nominations, winning for Best Original Song.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew is slated for release in 2026.
