Capcom Axes Monster Hunter Wilds Optimization Talk Over Harassment

Amid ongoing harassment and threats directed at its staff concerning Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom has withdrawn a scheduled lecture on optimizing the game at Japan's upcoming CEDEC 2025 conference.

According to Automaton, Capcom was slated to deliver a talk at Japan's Computer Entertainment Developers Conference focusing on performance optimization techniques using Monster Hunter Wilds as a case study. The presentation would have examined topics such as CPU and GPU load distribution as well as memory usage optimization.

While no official explanation was provided for the cancellation, speculation has centered on whether this decision relates to the harassment developers have faced regarding Monster Hunter Wilds. The PC version, in particular, has received significant criticism since launch, leading to Capcom's commitments to ongoing improvements and updates.

After Title Update 2's release, players hoped the planned adjustments would resolve persistent issues. However, results have been inconsistent, prompting Capcom to address several major bugs and technical problems via Twitter/X.

Simultaneously, Capcom issued a statement on its official website addressing what appears to be increasingly severe feedback. As reported by Automaton, the company revealed that staff have encountered harassment through social media and customer support channels, including personal threats against individual employees. Capcom reportedly warned that it will pursue legal action in serious cases of harassment targeting its personnel.

Although no official reason was given for the lecture's cancellation, the timing strongly suggests concerns over staff safety influenced the decision. While constructive criticism and feedback remain valuable, these extreme behaviors are counterproductive and certainly won't contribute to improving Monster Hunter Wilds.

Regarding the game itself, Title Update 2 has recently been implemented, and players appear to be enjoying the new hunting content, particularly the encounter with Lagiacrus.
