Bandai Namco to Shut Down PAC-MAN Mobile Game

Bandai Namco has announced the shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, which is quite ironic given that the legendary icon is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. This particular version of the game was launched over a decade ago, captivating fans with its classic gameplay and modern twists.
When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?
The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases have already been discontinued as of April 1st. If you’re still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the final date.
The decision to shut down the game completely rather than making it available offline has disappointed many players. An offline version would have been welcomed by the community and could have continued generating revenue for Bandai Namco.
PAC-MAN Mobile, previously known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. In addition to the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, it included a Story Mode with numerous original mazes. The game also featured an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events that allowed players to earn exclusive skins. Moreover, the Tournament Mode offered weekly maze challenges with three difficulty levels. Players could also customize PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more with a variety of skins.
The Reason
The game has faced numerous issues over the past few years. Accumulating bugs and persistent problems have likely contributed significantly to the decision to shut it down.
I recall the excitement during the initial years of its launch on Android, where players were intensely focused on achieving high scores and climbing the leaderboards. Those were fun times indeed.
If you're interested in playing PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
