This quiz app challenges players to match the correct "second half" of phrases from the traditional "Iroha Uta" poem to their "first half" prompts.
The app focuses on the historic "Iroha Karuta" - a poetic card game featuring 47 hiragana characters plus the "Kyo" character that forms the famous "Iroha" poem. The verse goes: "Colors fade, the fragrant flowers scatter... Today I cross the proverb mountain where shallow dreams and drunkenness lie beyond..." Originally created in Kyoto during the mid-Edo period, this cultural tradition spread to Osaka, Nagoya, and Edo. The quiz specifically uses Tokyo-style phrasing variants.
How to Play
When presented with the first half of an "Iroha Uta" phrase, select the correct matching second half from three given options.
