Unleash your creativity with ArtClash, a unique platform designed to foster daily practice in drawing, sketching, and cartooning. Unlike Sketchbook, Photoshop, Procreate, or Infinite Painter, ArtClash isn't just another drawing tool—it's a community-driven space where artists can engage, compete, and grow together.
As a work in progress, ArtClash currently offers an engaging first game, with more exciting features on the horizon. Whether you choose to free draw or select from a variety of topics and constraints, such as time limits, color restrictions, or canvas sizes, you can earn points based on how well others guess your creations. It's a fun, interactive way to hone your skills and connect with fellow artists.
ArtClash is the brainchild of a solo developer, crafted initially for personal use with his wife, but now shared to inspire and encourage others to practice daily. The app's current features include:
- Paint - Sketch, Paint, and Blend with ease
- Import images for reference or to paint over
- Select topics and constraints, draw, and earn points for correct guesses
- 6 difficulty levels for topics, ranging from single words to complex combinations
- 3 constraint options for extra points: time, colors, or canvas size
- Free draw and share your creations with the community
- An NSFW flag for content filtering
While ArtClash is in early access, there are a few known issues and bugs:
- The current UI, built with Unity, is less than ideal. Plans are underway to switch to XAML for a more responsive and attractive interface.
- For lower-end devices, it's recommended to keep canvases under 1024x1024 to prevent slowdowns with the GPU-accelerated brush engine. Performance enhancements are in development.
Looking ahead, ArtClash has an exciting roadmap of upcoming features:
- New games, starting with a drawing version of "telephone"
- Enhanced social features, including avatars, comments, friending, and following
- Improved UI and a faster brush engine
- Marquee selection and transform tools
- Expanded brush library with user-created and shared brushes
- Advanced layer system with additional controls
- A developer communication system for feature requests, bug reports, and voting
- Moderator roles to manage flagged content and community issues
- User-submitted topics and constraints
- Future plans for full image editing, animation, scripting, and game/storyboard prototyping
While ArtClash is not yet a comprehensive image editing suite due to performance limitations with large textures and the absence of full editing features, it's optimized for social competition and encouragement. Join the ArtClash community and transform your daily practice into an engaging, rewarding experience.
