Tarneeb is a card game for two teams, each consisting of two players sitting opposite each other at a table. The game uses a standard 52-card deck, and play proceeds counter-clockwise. Each player attempts to estimate the number of "Allmat" (points) their team can win in each round.
The player who wins the bid to declare "Tarneeb" throws a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then throw the same type of paper. The player who throws the matching paper last wins the "Bamh" (round). Tarneeb papers are the most powerful; only a stronger Tarneeb paper can beat it.
The round ends when all players have discarded their papers. Points are tallied. A team only scores if they meet or exceed their bid for the number of Allmat. If successful, they add their Allmat total to their score; the other team gets nothing. If they fail, their score is reduced by their bid, and the other team adds their Allmat total to their score.
If either team achieves 13 Allmat without bidding for 13, 16 points are added to their total. If a team bids for and achieves 13 Allmat, they gain 26 points. However, if a team bids for 13 Allmat and fails, 16 points are deducted from their score.
The game concludes when a team reaches a total score of 41 or more, declaring that team the winner.
