Squad Busters 2.0 Lands on Android Before First Anniversary

Squad Busters is celebrating its first anniversary with the launch of its significant update, 2.0, on May 13th. Since its debut in 2024, the game has struggled to achieve the level of popularity that its developers at Supercell had hoped for. With the introduction of Squad Busters 2.0, the question on everyone's mind is: will this overhaul breathe new life into the game?

This Isn’t Just a Tweak or Two

Squad Busters 2.0 isn't merely a series of minor adjustments; it's a comprehensive reboot. The update fundamentally changes the gameplay, from the mechanics of battles to the criteria for claiming victories, marking a significant shift in the game's direction.

One of the most notable changes is the introduction of Heroes. Players will now select a Hero to lead their squad into battle. These Heroes are inspired by existing characters, and the stakes are high: if your Hero is defeated, it's game over for you. This adds a new layer of strategy and excitement to each match.

The way combat is handled has also been revamped. Gone are the days of stopping to engage in combat; now, movement and attacks are seamlessly integrated, making battles more dynamic, intense, and unpredictable. This change aims to enhance the fluidity and engagement of gameplay.

Moreover, the conditions for victory have been altered. Instead of having to eliminate every opponent on the battlefield, players now only need to defeat the enemy Hero. While this shift has drawn comparisons to Brawl Stars, it promises to streamline matches and focus on key strategic elements.

Squad Busters 2.0 Is Dumping a Lot of Old Features

To make room for these new systems, several existing game modes are being removed, including Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, Epic Overload, Loot Machines, and Hatchling Herder. Additionally, certain skins and the old progression systems are being phased out. Supercell is compensating players for these changes with Hero Points and other in-game items.

It's clear that Supercell is moving swiftly to address Squad Busters' slower-than-expected growth. The game has not yet reached the same heights of popularity as other Supercell titles like Clash of Clans or Brawl Stars.

As Squad Busters approaches its first anniversary on May 29th, Supercell is pulling out all the stops to reignite player interest. The launch of Squad Busters 2.0 is complemented by a series of daily piñata events that will kick off soon, offering players the chance to unlock a new Hero, Mortis.

You can download Squad Busters 2.0 from the Google Play Store and experience these exciting changes firsthand.
