The previous generation, the Sony XM4, was already an outstanding headphone, but the XM5 introduces key enhancements in noise cancellation and comfort. It features a second processor and double the number of microphones dedicated to filtering out ambient noise. The earcups have been redesigned to fit more snugly on the ear, creating a better seal and, as a result, more effective passive noise isolation. The noise cancellation in the XM5 surpasses that of the XM4 and nearly any other noise-canceling headset in its price range.
