Death Stranding 2 Reveals Emerge From SXSW 2025
Extended Preview Trailer Introduces New Faces and Mechanics
Kojima Productions and PlayStation unveiled Death Stranding 2: On The Beach's launch date during South by Southwest (SXSW) 2025 in Austin. Director Hideo Kojima kicked off the panel with a 10-minute gameplay trailer that offered fresh narrative glimpses and mechanics, continuing the franchise's exploration of human connections in a fractured world.
The presentation featured PlayStation's Kristen Zitan alongside returning cast members Norman Reedus as Sam Porter Bridges, Troy Baker, and musical contributor Woodkid. The trailer notably introduced a new faction leader named Neil (portrayed by Luca Marinelli), whose striking resemblance to Metal Gear's Solid Snake—complete with signature bandana—sent the fan community buzzing.
This resemblance didn't go unnoticed by Kojima himself, who had previously commented on Instagram in 2020 about Marinelli's uncanny similarity to Snake when wearing a bandana. Neil's mysterious faction appears poised to play a pivotal role in the sequel's unfolding narrative.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach launches exclusively for PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025. For ongoing coverage and updates, visit our dedicated Death Stranding 2: On The Beach feature below!
