Shigeru Miyamoto Views Nintendo as a Talent Agency with Diverse Characters
In May 2015, Nintendo made headlines by announcing a groundbreaking partnership with Universal Parks & Resorts. This collaboration aimed to bring the beloved worlds of Nintendo games and characters into life-sized theme parks, marking a significant expansion of Nintendo's footprint in the entertainment industry. Fast forward to today, and that vision has been realized with the opening of Super Nintendo World. These vibrant theme parks, located in Japan, Los Angeles, Florida, and soon in Singapore, offer an immersive experience filled with thrilling rides, interactive attractions, themed gift shops, and dining experiences that celebrate Nintendo's iconic characters.
As we approach the launch of Universal's new Epic Universe theme park in Orlando, Florida, which will introduce the first-ever Donkey Kong Country expansion in America, I had the privilege of sitting down with Shigeru Miyamoto. The legendary game designer, known for creating characters like Super Mario and Donkey Kong, shared insights on the development of these parks, his collaboration with the next generation of Nintendo game developers, and his enthusiasm for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console.
