Paradox Unveils Europa Universalis V: Cinematic Trailer Released
Paradox Interactive has officially unveiled its much-anticipated grand strategy game, Europa Universalis 5, following a teaser last week. The renowned publisher, known for titles like Cities: Skylines, Crusader Kings, and Stellaris, introduced the game with an impressive cinematic trailer. Developed by Paradox Tinto in Barcelona, Spain, the team behind the development of Europa Universalis 4, the new installment promises to be a thrilling continuation of the series. Although a release date has yet to be announced, an Europa Universalis 5 Steam page is already available for fans to explore.
“Challenge your strategic skills over 500 years of history, in Europa Universalis 5, the latest version of the celebrated grand strategy game,” Paradox states in their description. “Master the arts of war, trade, diplomacy, and government in the largest and most detailed Europa Universalis game ever. Guide the destiny of any of hundreds of nations and societies in a simulated living world of unparalleled depth and complexity.”
Europa Universalis 5 has been in development for over five years, with the team emphasizing that the game is crafted with the dedicated Paradox fan in mind. The developers have taken into account more than a year of public discussion, acknowledging the significant role the community's input has played in shaping what they describe as “the largest and most detailed Europa Universalis game ever made.”
The game's campaign kicks off in 1337, at the start of the Hundred Years’ War. Players will navigate through pivotal historical moments, armed with an array of new features. Key highlights from the reveal include a larger, more accurate map featuring hundreds of different societies. Paradox introduces a population-based system, enhanced production and trade systems, where players can construct farms, plantations, and factories, or engage in trade with neighboring regions.
The overarching goal is to provide a strategy experience that empowers players to craft and manage their nation according to their vision. Though the project was hinted at as mysterious and “ambitious” last week, fans had largely anticipated its nature.
