People Can Fly Cancels Outriders 2

Fresh reports indicate that developer People Can Fly recently canceled Outriders 2 among its projects.

The Polish studio, known for Outriders and Gears of War: Judgment, confirmed in early June that more jobs were at risk after canceling two projects: Project Gemini and Project Bifrost.

Although CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski’s statement did not name the publishers involved, PCF’s website clarified that Gemini was a collaboration with Square Enix, while Bifrost was self-published.

The cancellation prompted restructuring within the studio, following the earlier cancellation of Project Dagger in April—an action-adventure title that was initially co-developed with Take-Two Interactive before its withdrawal in September 2022.

A recent report from Thumb Wars, corroborated by Insider Gaming, alleged that Project Gemini was indeed a sequel to Outriders. Motion capture sessions were reportedly underway at the time of cancellation.

Square Enix opted not to comment when reached by IGN. People Can Fly has not yet responded either.

This follows a similar downsizing at the end of last year, when the company laid off 120 employees. PCF is currently developing Project Echo with Krafton, Project Delta with Sony, and collaborating with Microsoft on Gears of War: E-Day.

IGN awarded Outriders a 7/10 in its review, praising its "extremely satisfying sci-fi shooting and looting" despite a weak narrative and technical flaws. PCF's latest release is Bulletstorm VR, an updated version of the classic shooter for Meta Quest and PSVR 2.
